There is an active and ongoing homicide investigation underway as authorities look into a shooting that left a woman dead on a street in Jersey City overnight.
Multiple rounds of gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 77 Brinkerhoff Street just before 11:40 p.m. sending police officers to the scene where they found a female victim suffering a gunshot wound to the head according to authorities.
The victim was pronounced dead a short time later police said.
A search of the area had officers locate a male victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound according to police.
Detectives searched the area for three black male suspects who were observed leaving the area immediately after the shooting.
The motive for the shooting has yet to be determined.
