Fire officials in Bergen County are investigating the cause of a house fire that killed a person in Ridgewood on Monday.
The early morning two-alarm fire broke out inside a home at 255 North Pleasant Avenue just before 1 a.m.
Officials said firefighters arrived at the scene and found thick smoke coming from a two-story wood-framed home at that location.
According to officials, crews stretched several lines to get water on the fire, but after searching the house, one person was found suffering severe injuries.
Officials said the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
