Fatal Early Morning Shooting in Irvington Township Under Investigation

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken the lead in investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Irvington Township early Sunday morning.NinosAt around 2:30 a.m., local police were dispatched to 18 Melville Place following reports of gunfire within the community.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious and unresponsive male victim who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after that.

The identity of the victim has not been released as the investigation continues.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has not confirmed whether the recent shooting is related to an earlier incident that injured an individual on the 30s block of Wilson Place around 11:30 p.m.

As of now, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigators are actively working to uncover the circumstances that led to this violent incident.

No arrests have been made in either shooting and the Essex County officials are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
