Authorities in Gloucester City are investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Tuesday night on a major highway.
According to a preliminary investigation, emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 11:20 p.m. to the northbound lanes of Interstate 76 near Market Street after receiving reports of a crash with injuries.
When police arrived, they found a vehicle that had slammed into a guardrail, ejecting one person from the car.
Emergency medical services were requested immediately, and the victim, who suffered severe injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts, the individual was later pronounced dead.
State officials have not yet released additional details surrounding the circumstances of the crash.
The incident remains under active and ongoing investigation, and no further information was available as of Wednesday morning.
