Officials for the NJ State Police are looking into a crash that occurred on a highway in the state that fatally injured one person during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders were called to the southbound lanes of I-295 near exit 29 in Cherry Hill after receiving reports of a crash with severe injuries reported.
Crews arrived at the scene and immediately closed off a portion of the highway after finding an overturned vehicle on fire with at least one person trapped inside.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but the victim trapped inside suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene according to reports.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the NJ State Police.
Police have not released the identity of the victim at this time.
