Bayonne Men Killed in Newark Ironbound Crash

Essex County authorities are investigating a crash that caused fatal injuries in Newark's Ironbound Section overnight.

The crash happened near the intersection of Ferry Street and Foundry Street at around 3 a.m. sending emergency responders rushing to the scene where upon their arrival crews observed a car crash into a pole with two trapped occupants at that location according to reports.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene while EMS transported the second victim to University Hospital suffering life threatening injuries reports said.

The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.

The official cause of the crash is under investigation.

**UPDATE: 5:59am** The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed at least one dead in the crash. "The investigation into the crash is in its early stages".

UPDATED 4:35 p.m. Authorities have identified the victims as Bayonne residents 30-year-old Mohammed E. Khamis who was the driver and pronounced dead at University Hospital, and the 20-year-old passenger, Ahmed Elnagger, died at the scene, Fennelly said.
