Fast Moving House Fire Displaces Several in East Orange

East Orange Firefighters swiftly knocked down a fast-moving fire that damaged a house in the city on Sunday morning.

According to preliminary reports, firefighters rushed to the 80's block of Hamilton Street after receiving reports of a fire inside a house with possible trapped occupants at around 6:10 a.m.

Crews arrived and found heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a two-story house located at 89 Hamilton, according to fire officials.

Firefighters were able to find the seat of the fire then extinguish the blaze before while rescue crews searched for occupants, which came back negative.

The American Red Cross assisted three displaced residents from the second-floor apartment.

Officials say firefighters stay at the scene to check for fire inside the walls.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
