Family Identifies Woman Found in Newark Bay as Montclair State University Freshman

According to a report by HudNews online Journal, family members have identified a woman whose body was discovered in Newark Bay near Stephen Gregg County Park in Bayonne on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

 NinoThe Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has stated that the deceased is an 18-year-old woman, and currently, there are no suspicions of foul play involved in her death.

While the Prosecutor’s Office has not officially released the name of the woman, ABS-CBN News, a Filipino media outlet, reported that she was Hayley Erin “Lee” Avestruz Alvarado HudPost said. 

Alvarado was a freshman at Montclair State University and had been reported missing since December after leaving her Jersey City home late at night, as mentioned in various social media posts.

Alvarado's funeral services were held yesterday, on Tuesday, March 19th, at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church located on Sullivan Drive in Jersey City.
