In Newark, it was 56 degrees around Central Avenue and South 12th Street as commuters made their way out the door.

Further north, Sussex County dipped to 41 degrees, while Morris County reported morning lows near 47 degrees.

Despite the chilly start, forecasters say the day will turn pleasant with plenty of sunshine.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high is expected to reach near 69 degrees, with steady north winds between 11 and 14 mph.

Tonight will stay clear, with lows dropping to around 50 degrees.

While sunshine may help push some areas into the upper 60s, most of North Jersey will stay comfortably cool, keeping the fall feeling in place.
