A gas main break has at least five confirmed injured and a approximately 75 Stafford Twp. homes evacuated.
According to reports, a section of Stafford Township was evacuated after a gas main break erupted causing an explosion in the area of Oak Avenue and Route 9 sometime around 10 a.m.
Only the damaged home's foundation remained, according to officials. Another home appears to have also suffered damage as a result of the blast, officials added.
At least two of the injured utility workers were transported via medivac. No additional information was available on the condition or extent of injuries of the other three injured workers.
Residents as far as a mile away reported feeling the blast. According to area residents, debris could be seen scattered on the ground.
Gas crews are actively working on correcting the gas main break, NJ Gas reported.
As of shortly after 12:30 p.m., the gas leak is said to have been contained, according to New Jersey Natural Gas.
Gas leak was originally reported as early as 9 this morning.
