Esteemed Doctor to Lead Jersey City Medical Center's Expanded Weight Loss, Bariatric Program

Jersey City Medical Center, a proud member of RWJBarnabas Health, has recently announced an exciting development in its healthcare services.AdDr. Ragui Sadek, renowned for his expertise in bariatric surgery within the RWJBarnabas Health network, will now extend his leadership to the medical center's weight loss and bariatric program in Hudson County.

With a distinguished career focused on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques, Dr. Sadek brings over a decade of experience in helping patients achieve their wellness and health goals.

I am thrilled to guide our team in supporting Hudson County residents on their journey to better health," Dr. Sadek stated, emphasizing the program's commitment to innovative and minimally invasive procedures.

Before this new role, Dr. Sadek spearheaded the bariatric and metabolic surgery program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, propelling the program to national acclaim.

His leadership earned several recognitions, including the 2023 Bariatric Surgery Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades, accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), and The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval®.AdIn his capacity as the Chief of Bariatric Surgery at RWJBarnabas Health, Dr. Sadek has impacted the lives of countless patients across various facilities, including Community Medical Center, Clara Maass Medical Center, and now, Jersey City Medical Center.

Dr. Sadek's educational background includes a medical degree from the University of Alexandria, Egypt, followed by extensive training in Staten Island University Hospital, New York, and a fellowship at what is now Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences in New Jersey.

His appointment marks a significant milestone in the effort to provide accessible, top-tier bariatric care to the residents of Hudson County and beyond.
