Essex Prosecutor Officially Charge Newark Man with Murder

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today Robert Steele, 25, of Newark has been charged with the murder of Hydee Wrice, 26, of Newark.

Authorities said on Oct. 29, Newark Police officers responded to the 100 block of Littleton Avenue where they found Wrice in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

EMS rushed Wrice to University Hospital, where he died seven days later on Nov. 5 authorities said.

Authorities said, the charges against Steele were upgraded to murder and he remains in custody at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
