Essex Prosecutor Investigates Death of Man Found Inside Vehicle in Newark

 The State Regional  Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause of death for a man found dead inside a vehicle in Newark Saturday. 

Police were dispatched to an address on 5th Street to investigate reports of a crash shortly before 10:30 a.m. 

When officers arrived, they found a damaged red SUV with an unconscious male slumped behind the steering wheel. 

According to witnesses, the victim appeared to had severe head trauma, but police have not said if the collision caused the injury. 

The unidentified man was at the scene. 

Residents in the area told RLS Media that they did not see anyone enter the car to attack the victim, nor could they confirm a road rage incident. 

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office was notified of the incident and is now waiting for the results of the medical examiner's findings.
