DEVELOPING: Essex Prosecutor Investigates Dead Body Found Under NJ Transit Tracks in Newark

Officials for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the circumstances behind a body found under a NJ Transit bridge in downtown Newark Monday morning.

According to NJ Transit officials, as part of the agency's regular community outreach efforts, New Jersey Transit Police officers were patrolling an area under the rail lines near Broad and Division streets -near the old Lincoln Motel/Zanzibar- in Newark when they came across an unconscious and unresponsive person.

Officials say, the body was that of an adult male and no other information is immediately available at this time.

The State Regional Medical Examiner's Office and The Essex County Prosecutor’s office are currently leading the investigation.

There are no reports of foul play at this time.
