Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Paul L. Boykins, 34, of Hillside.
Police say at approximately 8:45 pm Friday night, Boykins was shot in the area of 50 North 5th Street.
EMS transported Boykins to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
No arrests have been made according to police.
