Essex County families are being invited to take part in an upcoming educational webinar focused on the growing dangers of vaping among teenagers and practical ways parents and caregivers can help protect their children.

The virtual event, titled “Clearing the Air: Protecting Teens Against the Dangers of Vaping,” is being hosted by Family Connections in partnership with NJ4S Essex as part of their monthly webinar series.
The webinar will feature Cori Hammond and Linda Richter, who will discuss why teens are particularly vulnerable to vaping, including the science behind adolescent behavior and the impact nicotine and vaping products can have on developing brains.
The session will also explore how vaping can affect teens’ emotions and mood, often contributing to heightened reactions and behavioral challenges.
In addition, presenters will offer effective communication strategies designed to help families have open, productive conversations with teens about the risks of vaping and how to address the issue together.
The online event is scheduled for February 25, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Participants who register may also be eligible for an Amazon gift card giveaway.
Organizers say the webinar is part of a broader effort to provide families with timely, research-based information and tools to address substance use and promote healthier outcomes for young people across Essex County and New Jersey.
Registration is available online, and interested participants are encouraged to sign up in advance.
