Essex County Sheriff’s Feed the Needy

West Orange

With 20 pick-up trucks, SUV’s and vans loaded, the Essex County sheriff’s officers at emergency management headquarters in West Orange delivered Tuesday four tons of bulk food, hundreds of turkeys and holiday meals.

“This project is a labor of love for the members of our department,” Sheriff Fontoura said. “This is our opportunity to share with our less fortunate neighbors.”

The sheriff’s Thanksgiving convoy made stops at scores of Essex County soup kitchens, food pantries, social service agencies, homeless shelters, houses of worship and schools to insure the availability of Thanksgiving meals and to stock the food shelves for the coming winter months.
