A 67-year-old Essex County man died Sunday after apparently suffering a medical emergency while shoveling snow in Verona, authorities said.
According to reports Christopher Kiernan, police were called to the area of Beach and Martin roads around 12:45 p.m., where officers found the man unresponsive on a sidewalk with a snow shovel in his hand.
First responders performed CPR at the scene, and the man was transported by the Verona Rescue Squad to Mountainside Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The man’s identity has not been released, and no additional information was available as of Monday afternoon.
