According to information released by The Honorable Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. and RWJBarnabas Health, the spring distribution event is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, beginning at 9 a.m. at Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park, located on Oakwood Avenue in Orange.

Organizers say frozen chickens and boxes of non-perishable food items will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, with distribution continuing until supplies are exhausted.

The event will take place rain or shine.

County officials noted that many households continue to feel the effects of inflation, particularly with increasing food and energy costs, making efforts like this critical for families across the region.

Residents who plan to drive to the event are advised to enter through the community center parking lot via Oakwood Avenue, approaching from Central Avenue.

Vehicles will be directed to line up along the west side of Oakwood Avenue before entering the site. Officials emphasized that no left turns into the parking lot will be permitted.

Walk-up participants are welcome and should report to the front of the community center.

Those arriving on foot are encouraged to bring a cart to assist with transporting items.

Each household will receive one food package, which includes a frozen chicken and a box of non-perishable goods.

Organizers noted that buses will not be permitted at the site.

County leaders highlighted that Essex County has hosted more than 75 food distribution events in recent years, helping provide an estimated three million meals to residents in need.
