Essex County College Student Arrested for Making Terroristic Threats to Staff

Newark

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Essex County College Director and Chief of Public Safety Anthony Cromartie have announced the arrest of a student from Essex County College after the man allegedly made threatening comments directed towards a faculty member at the school’s Newark campus.

According to a spokesperson for the Essex County College, an investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Prosecutions Unit and the Essex County College Police Department led authorities to charge Jacques Cesaire, 41, of Newark, with one count of Terroristic Threats.

Detectives took Cesaire into custody, without incident earlier this afternoon.

Authorities say Cesaire is lodged in the Essex County Correctional Facility pending an appearance in the Essex County Central Judicial Processing Court.
