Essex County Authorities Investigate Suspicious Death of Two-Year-Old in Newark

Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, alongside Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, revealed that the death of a two-year-old baby is currently under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force.AdThe investigation was launched following a distressing incident reported on the afternoon of March 2.

At approximately 2:18 p.m., Newark police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of South Orange Avenue after receiving reports of a baby in distress.

Upon arrival, officers found the baby inside the home.

Tragically, the child was pronounced dead at the scene by 2:32 p.m. The community awaits the results of an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of the baby's death.

As the investigation remains active and ongoing, authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident.
