Englewood Man Charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Anthony Romain, 70, of Englewood, on charges of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child.

Officials say that on June 20th, the Englewood Police Department was alerted that a juvenile female reported that Anthony Romain touched her on her upper inner thighs on several occasions and kissed her lower back and neck. An investigation was initiated by the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony Romain was arrested on June 28th and charged with one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child.

According to authorities, Romain is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on June 29th.

Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
