End of Watch Riders from Spokane, Washington Honors Newark Police 2020 Fallen Heroes

Newark Police officials today hosted members of the End of Watch Ride to Remember, a group traveling over 18,000 miles to honor Newark Police Division members and others who lost their lives in the line of duty during year 2020.

Officials said Beyond the Call of Duty annually honors fallen police officers and their families by visiting the law enforcement agencies where they worked. 

The group left Spokane Valley, Washington on May 28th with a plan to visit 194 law enforcement agency across the country that had lost an officer during year 2020. 

The group is honoring 339 officers during this year’s End of Watch ride.

The five Newark Police Division members who were honored include:

• Lieutenant Michael Clegg, 53………….……. End of Watch, May 10, 2020

 

• Detective Irving Callender, 43……….……… End of Watch, August 22, 2020

 

• Detective Marcus Thomas, 50…….………… End of Watch, September 28, 2020

 

The End of Watch riders, led by their founder Jagrut “J.C.” Shah, a former Washington State Deputy Sheriff, were escorted to Newark Police headquarters with a contingent of six motorcycles, two trucks, a 30-ft. trailer, an honorary Harley Davidson motorcycle, and a 40-ft. trailer, wrapped in photos of each of the law enforcement officers nationwide who gave his or her life in the line of duty during year 2020.

“It is an incredible honor that the End of Watch Ride to Remember visited the Newark Police Division in remembrance of our fallen heroes,” Director O’Hara added. 

“Their sacrifice and dedication to recognizing not only our officers, but fallen law enforcement officers from every corner of the country, is more than commendable. We are truly grateful.”
