Elizabeth's Elmora Troopers advanced to the next step in the Little League World Series Tuesday night after defeating Rhode Island in a 2-0 last night in Williamsport Pennsylvania.
Last night's win sets the stage for an 11 a.m. Wednesday morning contest where they will take on River Ridge, Lousiana according to officials.
According to Little League officials, the Elizabeth New Jersey team broke a scoreless tie by tacking on two runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Elizabeth's pitcher held Rhode Island to one hit, solidifying the win.
The victory gives The Elmora Troopers hope after their 6-0 lost against Hawaii in the double-elimination tournament according to officials.
