Elizabeth Woman Charged with Theft of Service in Fairfield

Fairfield Township (Essex)

A six month investigation by the Fairfield Police Department into the fraudulent obtaining of cable services culminated in the execution of a search warrant at a Flora Street residence in Elizabeth, N.J. and  the arrest of Darcella L. Dickerson  of Elizabeth, N.J. for theft by deception, theft of services and identity theft on January 15, 2015.

Authorities said, detectives were initially notified by a township resident in July that, since 2010, an unknown individual had established a Cablevision account and had somehow been using the victim’s checking account to pay for it. The victim reported that in excess of $10,000.00 was paid to Cablevision from her account.

Detective Michael Nyhuis developed information which lead police to the Flora Street residence early this morning. Investigators allegedly found Cablevision bills and other equipment linking Dickerson to the fraudulent account. She was eventually released on her own recognizance pending an appearance in the superior court in Essex County.

(It should be noted that the charges against Dickerson are merely allegations and that she is presumed innocent until she either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
