Earlier today, the City of Elizabeth increased the ranks of the Elizabeth Police Department in a ceremony at the City Hall Council Chambers.
The new recruits, five of which are veterans, were introduced by Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, city officials, Police Director James Cosgrove and department Chiefs.
Two of the additions are former Union County Police Officers, who have already completed their state-mandated training.
The remaining four will attend the John H. Stamler Union County Police Academy.
“Providing safety and security throughout our community remains a priority,”said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “Hiring exceptional individuals, who are dedicated to serving and protecting the people of our City, enables law enforcement efforts to be enhanced, initiatives to be expanded and an improved quality of life to be achieved for all."
Several new recruits are also bilingual, increasing the ability to interact and communicate with the diverse communities located throughout the municipality.
New recruits include: Andres Arroyave, Luis M. Palomino, Osiris Rodriguez and Noel J. Pimentel, Jr.
The two transfers from the Union County Police are Kenneth S. Matz and Billy Ly.
The City of Elizabeth is the fourth largest municipality in the State of New Jersey with a population of 124,969.
With its close proximity to the entire tri-state area, the Elizabeth Police Department responds to an array of calls, incidents and emergency issues.
The additional recruits will strengthen law enforcement operations and increase overall assistance to residents.
