Police in Elizabeth are investigating a violent stabbing that sent one person to a Newark Hospital overnight.
The incident happened in the 100 block of Madison Avenue at approximately 9:10 p.m. where several 911 calls alerted police of a severely injured person at that location.
Units arrived at the scene to find the victim suffering stab injuries according to preliminary reports.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where doctors began treating severe injuries.
A black male suspect who wore a white T-shirt fled from the scene immediately after the stabbing according to reports.
The motive behind the stabbing remains under investigation.
