Detectives in Elizabeth marked off about dozen pieces of evidence while police searched the area for potential suspects wanted for a shots-fired incident in a city neighborhood overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired in the vanity of Fairmont Avenue and Meadows Street around 3:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, police searched the area for victims and other evidence after they found a crime scene at that location.
Hospitals in the region were placed on alert for possible walk-in gunshot victims after police were told that a white vehicle pulled up in the neighborhood and began to fire at unknown targets.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
