Police in Elizabeth were led on a three-city pursuit of suspects wanted for vandalizing several vehicles in the city on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the overnight chase began when police came across a minivan that fit the description of a vehicle wanted for thefts of over a half dozen catalytic converters around Elizabeth.
Officer attempted to pull the van over, but the driver officer's lights and sirens and sped on route 1&9 to McCarter Highway, ending with a crash in the 200 block of Mill Street in Belleville around 12:40 a.m.
Police have not immediately announced an arrest.
The incident is under investigation.
