Elizabeth Men Charged in Connecticut Home Invasion

Elizabeth

Two Elizabeth men have been accused of pistol-whipping a man and tying up a woman in a New Haven home over the weekend, according to police.

New Haven police were called to the area after an area resident saw two men try to gain entrance into his backyard.

Further investigations, led officers to a nearby swamp, where police found Jonathan Beltran, 26, and Reynaldo Roman-Diaz, 43 hiding, after fleeing from a New Haven home where they had allegedly pistol-whipped a man and tied up a woman in a reported home invasion sometime around 5 p.m.

In the area of the arrest, police found a billy club and a cell phone and found a .40-caliber gun in a nearby tree. Police also recovered three stolen cell phones, one of the victim's car keys and $240.00 cash.

Beltran and Roman-Diaz have been charged with home invasion, assault, robbery, reckless endangerment and weapons offenses.

The incident remains under investigation.
