Elizabeth Man Punched, Mugged After Getting Off Late-Night Bus

An Elizabeth man was punched and robbed by three men after getting off a bus last night, officials said.

Officers were flagged down by a 21-year-old man in the area of West Grand and Broad Streets shortly before 11:30 last night, Lt. Daniel Saulnier said today.

Victim told police that shortly after exciting a NJ Transit bus he was confronted by three males. After one suspect punched the victim in the face a second suspect relieved the victim of his Samsung phone, belt, and black leather wallet containing $27, Saulnier said.

Several minutes later Officers Richard Hernandez Jr. and Lilibet Ramirez observed three individuals fitting the physical description of the suspects in the rear of the Bank of America parking lot at 133 Jefferson Avenue.

19-year-old Robert Lynch of Elizabeth was identified by the victim as the individual who removed his belongings from him. The officers recovered the victim’s wallet, cell phone, belt and currency from Lynch.

The other two individuals - identified as 18-year-old Horace Jean of Elizabeth and 23-year-old Myles Sneed also from Elizabeth - were placed under arrest for municipal warrants, he said.

Lynch was charged with robbery and was being held on $50,000.00 bail, the lieutenant added.
