Elizabeth Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting a Minor

Elizabeth

A local man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a juvenile under the age of 13 over the course of multiple years, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Monday.

An investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit resulted in Hector Guillermo Narvaez, 32, of the 400 block of Murray Street in Elizabeth being charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Narvaez was arrested without incident in Elizabeth last week, after which state Superior Court Judge John M. Deitch set bail at $250,000.

He was subsequently lodged in Union County Jail.

Anyone with additional information about Narvaez’s activities is being urged to contact Prosecutor’s Office Detective Janet Lopez at 908-347-8491.

Under New Jersey’s Jessica Lunsford Act, convictions on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 result in mandatory minimum sentences of 25 years to life in prison.
