Elizabeth Firefighters Battled 2-Alarm Overnight House Fire

Elizabeth Firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire that ignited inside a house located at 431 Morris Avenue Overnight.

According to fire officials, crews arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor of the wood-framed house with extensions to the 3rd floor and the roof.

Officials say several firefighters opened the roof of the house while they forced entry and performed horizontal ventilation.

It took firefighters about an hour in subzero temperatures to bring the fire under control with a search of the structure coming back negative for injured or trapped occupants.

The cause remains investigation.
