Firefighters in Elizabeth battled a fire that ignited a house in Elizabeth early this morning.
Heavy fire broke out inside a two and a half story house located in the 100 block of Burnette Street at around 2:45 a.m. sending over a dozen firefighters to the scene where they observed heavy fire engulfing both levels of the wood-framed structure.

Downed power lines briefly prevented crews from fighting the fire as utility crews made it to the scene to shut the power off to the home.
A search of the house for trapped and injured victims came back negative according to officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
