Last night an Elizabeth Board of Education member was arrested after allegedly hitting his wife.
Carlos Trujillo, 43, appeared in court today to plead not guilty to the simple assault charge.
According to reports, police responded to Trujillo's home shortly before 11 p.m. after his wife called police to report she had been hit in the face after an argument.
Despite refusing medical attention, the alleged victim was complaining of ear pain and had a swollen face.
Trujillo who reportedly took off on foot reported to police headquarters sometime after the incident.
The case will be handled by another municipality which was not specified in the report.
