Police in Elizabeth are on the search for a suspect who opened fire in a neighborhood in Elizabeth.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Mary and Walnut streets to investigate reports of shots fired with a person struck at approximately 1 a.m.
When officers arrived, they began searching the area for a victim but was not able to locate anybody injured according to reports.
Police believe that a male suspect arrived in the area and attempted to conduct a robbery then fired shots when he did not receive cash or other items.
The incident remains under investigation.
