UPDATE : Suspect Forced Entry into Home after Elizabeth Pursuit, Crash

According to authorities, members of the Elizabeth Police Department were involved in an investigation during which they attempted to stop a vehicle when authorities said the suspect's vehicle sped away from officers.

After a brief pursuit, police said the suspect's vehicle slammed into a minivan and a school bus that was carrying small children at the intersection of Madison and Avenue and Fairmont Avenue.

The suspect, identified as Abdul Williams, age 31 of East Orange, bailed from the vehicle and fled the scene on foot with officers still in pursuit authorities said.

During the foot chase, Mr. Williams forced his way into a residence to evade officers but was soon apprehended.

The driver of the minivan and eight Elizabeth Public School students from the bus were transported to Trinitas Medical Center for minor injuries according to authorities.

Mr. Williams has been charged with the following:

- Eluding

- Possession of heroin

- Possession of heroin with intent to distribute

- Possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 1000 ft. of a school

- Possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 500 ft. of a park

- Possession of marijuana

- Resisting arrest

- Burglary

- Nine counts of Aggravated Assault

The investigation is active and ongoing.
