Bergen County authorities are investigating a pedestrian strike that killed a senior woman this morning in Hackensack.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to the intersection of Johnson Avenue near Zabriskie Street at around 6:40 a.m. to investigate reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, police and EMS found a severely injured elderly woman who had been struck by an SUV at that location.
The woman was pronounced dead a short time later, according to police. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigations Unit and The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification are on the scene collecting evidence.
No charges have been filed at this time.
