Edison Teen Falls 30 Feet Following Electric Shock in Metuchen

A 17-year-old Edison teen was rushed to an area hospital after touching high voltage lines as he climbed a train trestle.

Police responded to the area near St. Joseph High School Tuesday sometime around 5:30 p.m., for a report of a possible electrocution. Upon arrival, officers found the unidentified teen in need of medical attention.

Based on preliminary reports, the teen appears to have climbed the steel trestle when he came in contact with the high voltage lines causing his approximately 30 feet fall.

According to police, the teen was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick in unknown condition.

The incident is under investigation.
