Edison officials announced that the Public Library will welcome author Jennie Misko and illustrator Ruhaan Khatri for a special storytime and craft centered around their recently released book, Monster Feelings: Miss Ann Gree. Misko, a Piscataway resident and teacher for Edison Township Public Schools, and Ruhaan, a rising 8th grader at John Adams Middle School, will visit the Clara Barton Branch on Friday, August 8, at 10 a.m. and the Main Library on Sunday, Aug. 10, at noon.

The event is open to children ages four and older with a parent/caregiver, officials said.
Released last month, according to Ediso officials, Monster Feelings: Miss Ann Gree is centered around Ann, a fiery pink monster who feels angry - a lot.
Edison officials say as her story unfolds, children are taught it's okay to feel mad by discovering fun, healthy ways to calm their own monster feelings.
“The idea for this book came from my own parenting journey. When my daughter was a toddler, she experienced some truly epic temper tantrums, and I found myself searching for fun, engaging ways to help her—and myself—understand those big feelings,” Misko said.
“That experience planted the seed for ‘Miss Ann Gree,’ a fiery little monster who helps kids see that anger is okay, and that there are healthy ways to express it.”
When it was time to find an illustrator, it was Ruhaan, a student in Misko’s fifth-grade class at the time, who brought the characters to life, officials stated.
“After a few trial-and-error attempts, the perfect match came from an unexpected place. Ruhaan’s sketch of ‘Miss Ann Gree’ captured the exact personality and emotion I envisioned,” Misko, whose second book, also featuring Ruhaan’s illustrations, will focus on anxiety, said.
“His ability to combine imagination with discipline at such a young age makes him a remarkable collaborator—and a rising star to watch.”
Edison officials said that residents looking to meet the author and illustrator are invited to attend the upcoming events taking place at the Edison Public Library.
Registration is not required, but space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis, officials say.
