Police in East Orange are investigating a stabbing that left one person dead in the city overnight.
The incident occurred in the 100 block of Park Avenue, before 1 a.m., sending police to the scene where they found the male victim down suffering a brutal stab injury to the neck and later pronounced dead according to preliminary reports.
The motive for the stabbing is under investigation. There were no arrests reported.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office will handle the investigation.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
