East Orange Man Admits Robbing Weehawken Lounge Employee

Weehawken East Orange

A 51-year-old East Orange man admitted robbing a female employee of Weehawken's Squeeze Lounge in 2015.

According to Hudson County spokesman Ray Worrall, on April 12, Jeffrey Agee, pleaded guilty to first degree robbery in the May 10, 2015 incident outside the Willow Avenue go-go bar.

On the day of the robbery, the 65-year-old victim - a "house mom" -was attempting to enter her car around 3:30 a.m., after leaving the bar when she was approached by Agee, who demanded money at gunpoint.

The victim managed to rip off Agee's mask just before he fled in a waiting car with her purse which contained approximately $2,500.

Three lounge dancers who witnessed a portion of the incident attempted to take a picture of the car but Agee allegedly waved the gun at her.

Responding officers recovered Agee's mask which was tested ultimately linking saliva on it to Agee. He was arrested on March 9, 2016.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Betsy M. Santos, 35 (alleged driver of the waiting car) and Luis O. Alers, 29, (Santos' boyfriend) who was also in the vehicle.

Alers has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and also faces a long prison term when sentenced on July 7. Santos awaits trial.
