East Hanover Police are looking into the circumstances that led to a violent stabbing of a person that occurred during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 30's block of Grant Avenue to investigate reports of an injured person at around 11 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene found a bleeding male suffering a stab injury to the chest at that location.
The victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
Police are looking into the possibility of a self-inflicted wound but have launched a full investigation.
No arrests have been reported.
