East Brunswick Man Charged with Theft

Middlesex County authorities announced today that an East Brunswick man has been charged with defrauding the Middlesex County Board of Social Services.

Police say on Wednesday, December 16, Mr. Alejandro Urgilez, 33, of East Brunswick was charged with one count of third-degree Theft by Deception, one count of third-degree Forgery and one count of third-degree Uttering.

Officials said Urgilez was charged following an investigation by Detective Ryan Tighe of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, which determined Urgilez altered copies of benefits checks issued by the Middlesex County Board of Social Services and deposited approximately $12,000 in stolen funds into his bank account.
