Early Morning Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Several Homes in Irvington Township

Irvington fire officials are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed several homes in the Township on Wednesday morning.

According to officials, the three-alarm blaze broke out in the 20's block of Franklin Terrace at approximately 2 a.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they observed flames shooting from windows of the two and a half story wood framed house.

Firefighters began an exterior operation after flames extended to at least two other neighboring homes at that location.

As of 3:56 a.m., a preliminary check of the buildings resulted in no injuries, but crews found a hoarding condition in one of the homes.

There were about 8 homes with fire damage and 10 residents displaced.

Fire officials placed the blaze under control at approximately 3:47 a.m. with the cause under investigation.
