Police located a shell casing at the scene of a shots-fired incident in Newark's Central Ward on Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Avon and Badger avenues around 12:30 a.m.
Units arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victims were located during their neighborhood search.
One person was detained by police and is believed to be the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Police have not released a motive for the incident.
