Early Morning Shooting Injures Male in Newark's West Ward

There were injuries reported for at least one person in Newark after gunfire rang out in a West Ward community early Saturday morning.

According to preliminary reports, residents in the 400 block of South 14th Street contacted police when they heard multiple gunshot blasts at approximately 4:50 a.m.

Police officers arrived and found a male suffering apparent bullet wounds and shell casings on the ground at that location according to officials.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The suspect fled the scene and remains at-large according to police.

No other victims were found.
