Early Morning Gunfire Strikes Vehicle in Newark's South Ward

Newark police are investigating a shots-fired incident in the city’s South Ward overnight that resulted in property damage but no reported injuries.

The gunfire erupted around 2:30 a.m. in the 20 block of Renner Avenue. 

When officers arrived, they discovered multiple shell casings scattered on the ground and a vehicle struck by bullets.

After canvassing the area, authorities confirmed there were no injuries. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

The motive for the shooting has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains active.
