Morris County authorities are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed an Italian restaurant early Friday morning.
According to preliminary reports, heavy fire tore through the Cosmo Bella restaurant located at 135 Newark Pompton Turnpike in Pequannock just before 1:30 a.m.
Crews arrived at the scene immediately requested mutual assistance from Lincoln Park and Wayne after they observed flames tearing through the roof of the establishment.
Firefighters stretched several lines and began to attack the blaze from the exterior before they made their way inside to check for trapped and injured occupants.
There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
