Early Morning Fire Damages House in Irvington Township

Firefighters in Irvington extinguished an early morning fire that erupted inside a house in a section of the Township on Monday.

The fast-moving fire ignited in the basement of a three-story aluminum siding framed house located in the 30's block of Cummings Street just before 5 a.m.

Officials say fast-responding Irvington firefighters arrived at the scene and found flames coming from the basement and swiftly extending to the first and second floors.

According to officials, firefighters were able to get inside the home and pour water on the seat of the fire, then they checked the building for trapped and injured occupants.

Officials say the fire caused structural damage to the basement, first and second floors but the third floor experience some smoke damage.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Irvington Fire Department.
